From September 2018 until August 2021 a network of 6 entities from Spain-FEC, Portugal-CULTRA, France-ESPACES MARX, Austria-TRANSFORM!AT, Greece-NICOS POULANTZAS INSTITUTE and Slovenia-MARCH 8 INSTITUTE (in line with the work we have been doing for more than 13 years) we have developed the project ADULT EDUCATION AS A MECHANISM OF SOCIAL INCLUSION AND PARTICIPATION OF MIGRANT WOMEN. An initiative that has generated a new way to fight against radical and violent movements that does not limit rights or establish isolationist measures, but to promote inclusion and European values of justice and equality through a participatory education that makes the student an active subject in their training and in the European social reconstruction.

To achieve this ambitious objective, the creation of PARTICIPATION AND INCLUSION SCHOOLS, learning spaces for adult women through formal training (in accordance with the legislation of the Adult Education Centers), participation and inclusion, has been promoted in dozens of European municipalities. As well as the creation of two high quality results that facilitate this process for teachers:

– THE METHODOLOGICAL GUIDE FOR EDUCATION THROUGH PARTICIPATION AND TRAINING TO ACHIEVE INCLUSION (O1) which fosters a new form of education in EPAS (and counterpart centers).

– The innovative training course UP-WOMEN: TRAINING COURSE THROUGH PARTICIPATION AND INCLUSION (O2), aimed at creating bilateral processes of participation and training through which adult women not only learn, but are encouraged to engage in a dialogue with political institutions to change their environment.

Despite the difficulties inherent to the confinement and the serious coronavirus pandemic that particularly affected several of the partner countries (such as Spain and Portugal), during the three years of work we have managed to meet all the proposed objectives, develop high quality results and carry out all the proposed activities (although several of them by virtualizing them in order to make them viable).

In short, we believe that we have carried out a great project, which has the endorsement of several municipalities (and the adult education centers linked to them) across Europe and that is already being able to have a significant impact on the fight against hate speech and the empowerment of segregated women.

AS A MECHANISM OF SOCIAL INCLUSION AND PARTICIPATION OF MIGRANT WOMEN.

– THE METHODOLOGICAL GUIDE FOR EDUCATION THROUGH PARTICIPATION AND TRAINING TO ACHIEVE INCLUSION (O1) que fomenta una nueva forma de educación en las EPAS (y centros homólogos).

To achieve these intellectual results, we held 3 transnational meetings of all the partners, in collaboration with technical experts, police institutions and persons of recognized prestige.

  1. MEETING IN FRANCE. The first transnational meeting, held in Paris, France on March 10, 2019 hosted by Espaces Marx, was useful to review the working guidelines and for the partners to present their entities and get to know better the Erasmus projects. We discussed about the intellectual outputs of the project and the materials we need and distributed tasks. The image of the project was presented and we discussed the activities of preparing the structure of the platform and the preparation of contents.

2. MEETING IN AUSTRIA. The second transnational meeting was held in Vienna on June 12, 2019, where we analyzed the activities carried out since the celebration of the first meeting, and discussed about the possible collaborating entities proposed by each of the partners to be, in the future, part of this meeting. Due to the fact that this meeting was held just after the European elections of May 26, 2019, this meeting we also analyzed its results trying to establish a realistic context in order to achieve a great impact at European level on the beneficiary collectives. The final conclusions of this analysis will be incorporated into the results. This meeting was completed with an institutional visit to gather more support and media impact among other entities of the TRANSFORM! NETWORK, taking advantage of the large presence in Vienna of entities from all over Europe and potential future members of the network.

3. MEETING IN MADRID, scheduled for March 2020, was cancelled in its face-to-face form due to the pandemic, so we had to hold it online. we presented the progress made on the intellectual output and planned the specific actions to complete it. This meeting was attended by those responsible for the project, as well as many of the presidents of the partner organisations in order to give a boost to the first intellectual outcome and lay the foundations to start working on the outcome.

MULTIPLICATION EVENT, with the attendance of more than 100 people, was held in the city of Seville in Spain, on 18 July 2021, to present the intellectual materials of the project, both the Methodological Guide and the Didactic Units. It was a very inspiring meeting, with the participation of municipal representatives interested in the implementation of the project in their municipalities:

We are pleased with the work we have done, from which we have learned a lot. We believe that this project contributes to the creation of a network that seeks to strengthen education as a mechanism to build a more egalitarian and inclusive society. It is an exciting project that we will continue in the future!!!

Through this project we aim to promote the training we provide towards a new generation of e-learning courses that not only train for employability and self-knowledge, but also promote the participation of users. A two-way course that encourages users to express their concerns and proposals by establishing a structured dialogue and promoting their participation and socialisation in the choice processes.

The proposed virtual course, which will be included in the Moodle Platform, through collaborating town councils, will allow migrant or refugee women to be trained in history, economics and citizenship, but will also promote their involvement in the election processes, gathering their proposals and suggestions to make them reach political and public administration decision-makers, thus having a direct impact on their own lives and society.
